In my eyes a marriage is a contract. You will spend "the rest of your life" with the person you choose to marry. It's a business proposal on many levels as well if you think about it. Once married, money, assets, liabilities, taxes, kids, grandkids, the partnership; all become eachother's responsibility. Me, I personally will request a prenup prior to committing on that level. People never get into business together today without partnership agreements, contracts, or some means of guarantee if one of the parties involved does the partnership wrong.
In todays sue-happy society, even "love" can't convince me to skip over that little signature.
That's just my opinion though.
